Half-Blood (Covenant 1) by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My Review:
Half-Blood starts off right where Daimon left off. Alex ends up back at the Covenant with Aiden and actually ends up training with him! It’s either that or become a servant which is a crazy alternative! Throughout the training she begins to have feelings towards Aiden which is a major no no! Aiden is a Pure and Alex is a half. This kind of relationship is forbidden. There is something about forbidden love that makes a book great! Eventually another young man named Seth shows up! He turns out to be a big deal in this story.

Between Seth and Aiden I sense a serious love triangle or some sort of craziness to come between these three. I can’t wait to see what happens with this triangle. What’s weird is I usually don’t like triangles. But, for some reason with Seth I wouldn’t mind if there was a love triangle here. Something about his character makes him pretty interesting.

There is also a part at the end where she actually gets bitten up by some daimons.  They apparently don’t heal quite right and I am curious to see if anything happens with that or if I am just reading into it to much. I feel a plot twist coming!

Half-blood looks to be a new refreshing take on descendants of the gods and I can’t wait to see what happens next. There are so many possibilities of what could happen in the future installments. Jennifer Armentrout has become one of my favorite authors and I read all her books that were out last year so I figured she deserved to have all my 5 star reviews on the blog.
