Title: Elixir
Author: Jennifer Armentrout
Release Date: November 27, 2012
Series Number: 3.5

Goodreads Summary:
Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

My Thoughts:
A novella from AIDENS POV!!! Technically book #3.5 in the Covenant series. I recently finished the ARC of Deity and I need this book. Once you read Deity you will totally understand my motives. November 27th is waaaay to far away! The cover is awesome too. I want to buy it just for the cover. I thought the picture below described the way I felt when I heard about this!

Deity ARC by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My Review:
Deity...how can I describe it? First of all being spoiler free is very hard! So much happened but, I don't want to give away the whole story. So keep that in mind. Alex's world is about to change and in a huge way. Her 18th birthday is approaching quickly and she really doesn't know what to expect when she awakens. After the Catskills she is pretty much on lock down  With guards or Seth around her all the time. It's hard to live your life like that. There is also the issue of a special someone she learns about. Also Alex is still dealing with Caleb's death which is proving to be difficult. Especially when your friends are mad at you and you don't have anyone to talk to about it and Aiden is keeping a safe distance and for good reason. If she thought that grief was bad by the end of Deity it is way worse. Poseidon wrath is crazy. Yes, Poseidon! There are numerous Gods in Deity that we get to meet. My favorite was Apollo! Being a lover of all things Greek Mythology, I was in love with this book. The mythology fit in so well with the story it was simply amazing. A lot happens in the last few chapters of Deity. I mean A LOT! All I will say is that people can't be trusted, people will die, and Alex awakens.

Alex grows a lot in Deity. She is still the strong willed, act first think later girl. There is a lot going on for that poor girl. A new special someone is alive! Can't say who it is sorry! She is going to awaken soon and she knows that Seth is lying to her. She is worried about losing herself and those she loves when she awakens. I mean wow, that's a lot of stress for someone so young. When the Gods make there presence known things kind of go down hill from there. With Alex and Seth right in the middle of it.

Before Deity I was Team Seth. Now however, I am 110% Team Aiden! Aiden is amazing! He seems so quite and so in control. It was nice to see him finally crack and loose himself for a while. He is the seriously sweet. I want a duplicate of him here...with me...seriously. I'm not saying that I hate Seth. I still like Seth. I think there is still hope for that egotistical man child. I feel like I understand him a lot better now. We get to learn a lot more about both Seth and Aiden. By the end of Deity the love triangle is no more!! Alex picks one of them!! So will Fate win or Love???

Deity is the first book in the Covenant series that has me worried that there will not be a happy ending. In the last few paragraphs after Alex awakens I was like O_O .... O...M...G. The cliffhanger is huge! I don't know how I am going to wait for Apollyon to come out next April. Hopefully Elixir will be enough to keep me patient!

Tempting the Player by J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout)

Goodreads Summary:
Chad Gamble, all-star pitcher for the Nationals, is one of the best players on—and off—the field. And right now, the notorious bad boy wants Bridget Rodgers. But with her lush curves and snappy comebacks, the feisty redhead is the kind of woman a man wants to settle down with…and that’s the last thing Chad needs.

When the paparazzi catch them in a compromising position, Chad’s manager issues an ultimatum: clean up his act or kiss his multi-million dollar contract goodbye. To save his career, his meddling publicist says he'll have to convince everyone Bridget isn’t just his flavor of the week, but his girlfriend.

Being blackmailed into a fake relationship with Chad Gamble isn’t easy, especially when the sizzling physical attraction between them is undeniable. With a month to go on their arranged pretense, it's going to take every ounce of willpower they have not to fall into bed together...or in love.

NOT a YA book! This is a book for adults! Just an FYI!

My Review:
Well J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) does it again! Tempting the Player is an amazing sequel to Tempting the Best Man. Once I started this book it was very hard to stop reading. The story was so good! Oh, and the romance is super hot!! Like be careful you will burn yourself hot! The intimate scenes are written so well too. One of the best romances I have read.

Bridget and Chad meet at a bar and have an instant attraction. They end up back at Chad's luxurious place. I figured after their first night together she'd be ok with the whole fake relationship thing. I liked how that whole situation went down. Miss Gore did a great job saying it like it was and the blackmailing was pretty smart on her part. Bridget didn't like being forced into a relationship especially when she was kind of unnerved around the playboy. My favorite characteristic of Bridget was her sarcasm and ability to tell Chad exactly how it was was brilliant. She was a fireball and pretty perfect for Chad even if she didn't think so. I also loved her insecurities. It made it easier for me to relate to Bridget. To read about someone who was nervous about being in the nude around Chad because she wasn't a model like his other lady friends.

Moving on to the man of the story! Chad...oh Chad how can I describe him. In the beginning he was a self absorbed playboy without a care in the world. He did what he wanted when he wanted and usually with a different woman each time. His playboy attitude is not impressing his team heads. He is given an ultimatum, clean up your image or loose your contract. So Chad embarks on his fake relationship with an unhappy Bridget. Going out on appearances and dress shopping really isn't Chad's thing. But, throughout all this you see Chad change. He is actually quite a romantic. It is strange for him to actually want to do things to make Bridget happy. Especially after he learns about her family and problem at work. He is better at the whole boyfriend thing then he thinks. Will they make it through this "relationship" in one piece or will it end in pieces?? Will they be able to stay out of each others beds? The biggest question of all is, when the real reason Bridget agreed to start this "relationship" is revealed will Chad be able to look past it?

This was such a good story! I went from laughing to tears to being mad. I feel like Chad and Bridget really during the story. They changed each other without even knowing it. Jennifer Armentrout has proved once again that she is a writing machine and every book she writes is a must read!

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins COVER REVEAL!!

Book Blurb
Publication Date:  April 30, 2013 from HarperTeen
Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. She’d been naive about a lot of things. Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Book 3 of The Sweet Trilogy, Sweet Reckoning, is slated for spring/summer 2014.

I love it!! I like how the cover is similar enough to know what series it is but, also different enough! I love the all black! Sweet Evil was an awesome book. I was excited when the author was signed on for the next two books! What do you think of the cover? Let me know in the comments!

Title: Gravity
Author: Melissa West
Release Date: October 30, 2012
Series Number: 1

Goodreads Summary:
Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

My Thoughts:
I came across this book while looking at different giveaways and it intrigued me. It sounded different and unique. Therefore my curiosity was spiked! I mean why was Jackson hovering over her bed?? What is he?? I'm a sucker for a book summary can leave me with a lot of questions. Anyway, it sounds interesting and I have added it to my list to read.

Shadow of the Mark by Leigh Fallon COVER REVEAL!!

About the cover
I know, there's no mistaking it. This is definitely a Carrier Series  cover, but that was the intention. After the amazing reception to the  cover of Carrier of the Mark, Harper Collins wanted Shadow's cover to  be instantly recognizable. And it is, but the new darker color palette  reflects the darker tone that this installment brings, and the pink  and purple really make it pop. I love it and think Harper Collins have  done another amazing job. I hope you like it too.

My Reaction
Wow! I love the covers for this series! They are awesome. This one just happens to match my blog which makes it even better. Feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think!

Shadow of the Mark Blurb

Shadow Blood by Jayde Scott

Goodreads Summary:

Only a few months ago, Amber Reed would have called herself an ordinary girl in an ordinary world…until she moves to Scotland and is pushed into a world she never knew existed by the sexy and daring McAllister brothers, unable to withstand its perils.

Aidan McAllister, the irresistible leader of the Morganefaire brethren, has what he always wanted: the girl of his dreams. His love for Amber is getting stronger, but for all his wants and needs, there’s a price to pay.

As a mystery draws them deeper into the heart of an intricate organization ruled by shifting allegiances, Amber realizes she’ll have to choose between her one true love and doing the one thing she swore she’d never do: break the rules by taking someone’s life.

My Review:
I was super happy to get a copy of this one from the awesome author! I have a huge soft spot for this series. It is by far one of my favorites. It's always nice when you can rely on a series to always be good! Shadow Blood picked up right where Forever and Beyond left off. Amber is stuck in Morganefaire surrounded by death and lies. Amber has so many questions and virtually no answers. Turns out more was taken after the break in. Which leads to more questions. What do they need the ring for? Who are "they" anyway?? A lot of bad things have happened and they finally find out who is behind it! I was kind of shocked actually at the ending. Didn't see that coming. Amber is pulled in so many directions! Who is telling the truth? Who can be trusted? Is it Seth, Blake, Logan and the list just keeps on going. She is pretty much left with Julie. I felt bad for Amber, she had so much on her plate. Especially after Aidan is wounded. She is kind of left with Julie to figure out what is going on and how to save Aidan. So much craziness all brought together in the last few chapters. Jayde Scott never ceases to amaze me with her ability to bring everything together at the end.

I love Aidan. I'm not sure if I have stressed that enough in my reviews for this series! So in case you missed that I figured I'd say it again. When he is wounded I was seriously freaking out. I was like NOOO! I said it out loud. I frequently get very into my reading and yell random words at books. Is Amber willing to do anything to save his life? I'm glad Kieran was in this one a little more. I like his story and am interested to see where it goes. Especially when now that we know Patricia's  role in the prophecy. I have a feeling things are going to get dicey for those two.

One thing that really surprised me was Julie. I was annoyed by her in Forever and Beyond. In Shadow Blood I really enjoyed her! She has changed a lot. I found her incredibly helpful and grown up.

I read Shadow Blood in 2 days. I can't wait for The Prophecy of Morganefaire. The preview at the end of Shadow Blood left me craving more!! I'm not sure when it comes out but, when I know I will update this post.

ARC Review of Catalyst (Vampire Apocalypse #2) by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:

Blood is power. Since the world froze and the humans died off, blood has become scarce. There’s barely enough to sustain the vampire population, even though their masses have dwindled. Many vampires are reduced to the measly few drops of blood rationed to them by the Regent, which is enough to keep them alive, barely. It’s survival; an undesirable existence.

Before the world froze, before the humans slaughtered each other in their wars, blood was ample and rich. The odds of feeding from an infected human, one with weakened blood, was rare, but now it is normal. Every human within the palace walls is anemic. Though they tried, the Regent was not able to curb the severity of the disease. Their humans became sickly, growing weaker and weaker until they were so fragile that a single scrape could kill them.

The weakened blood means an unstable source of food, but there have been other repercussions—things no one saw coming. As time passed, fangs retreated, reflections appeared, and light was no longer destructive. Vampires can now walk in the full sunlight without turning to ash. Too many generations have passed. Many vampires cannot remember a time when blood flowed richly, when vampires did not have to abstain and endure a slow starvation.

One human can change everything. One human can restore the old ways and return vampires to their former glory—Kahli—but the girl escaped. Blood is power, and the vampire who finds Kahli first will have all the power.

IF you haven't read Bane (Book #1) then this review may contain spoilers for you! Sorry!

My Review:
Since Bane was my favorite vampire book for 2012 I was highly anticipating the sequel Catalyst. I was sooo excited to get an ARC!! I feel like the story was written so well. Very put together. In other words, Catalyst was awesome! It picks up where Bane left off. Kahli and Will have escaped and are trying to recover from the crash. I love that Kahli and Will had to talk about their relationship. It turned out different then I thought. But, I loved Will in Bane and was glad that they finally had some time to figure things out. Kahli's view of Will has changed since Bane. I think she is staring to understand him a little more. They also had to figure out what they plan was. Go back to the palace? Continue running? Or kill some vampires??

Kahli is still the kick butt heroine in every form of the word. A fierce fighter, who cares for the human race and saving her friends. Even if it means she may not live. Heroine is the perfect word to describe Kahli. She's not an annoying girl who has to chose between who she will love or which clothes to wear for the day. She has to try to stay alive from day to day. It's like a breath of fresh air reading her story! Finally someone worthy of being a heroine!!!! Cassie turns out to have a pretty kick butt streak too!

I still love Will. He risked a lot to save Kahli numerous times. We get to learn a little more about Will's back story in Catalyst. Woohoo! Turns out he has some secrets! As do a majority of the characters in this series. Which is awesome! I love how the story is in different character perspectives too. You really get to know how every feels. Which also lead to finding out more secrets. The other young man I was taken with was Cole. I found myself really enjoying his parts of the story as well. He seems like a really great guy. Given the state of the world. Now his secret is a mind blower! And trust me, saying that is not a spoiler. You have no idea...seriously. I was like O_O NO WAY! Celticad turns out to be a pretty cool bad guy. Anyone who can stand up to the King like that is pretty awesome. Even if he's on the wrong team. I just had to say that.

If you couldn't tell by my review, this one is a must read!!! Just like the first book I enjoyed Catalyst a lot! Yes, this still remains my favorite vampire series of the year!! If you are looking for a different kind of vampire book with a twist then this is it.

Title: The Iron King
Author: Julie Kagawa
Release Date: February 1, 2010
Series Number: 1

Goodreads Summary:
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

My Thoughts:
I chose this book because of how long it has been on my wishlist. Mostly because I am trying to decide if I should read the series. I have read a lot of reviews and people have mixed feelings. I hate love triangles and it sounds like this one has one. That worries me. Sometimes they end bad or I like the other guy more. I don't like that in a story. So I wanted to ask you guys. Is this series worth reading???? I need help deciding this!!

Toxic by Jus Accardo

Goodreads Summary:

When a Six saved Kale's life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she'd lose the one thing she'd give anything to keep... And as if it's not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez's problems.

After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice--surrender to Denazen for the cure...or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn't involve being bagged and tagged--or losing someone she loves--Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there's a traitor among them. Jade.

Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there's any hope of proving Jade's guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead...

My Review:
I had been waiting for this book for...awhile. I loved Touch (book 1). I enjoyed the characters so much. Not much changed in Toxic other then there are more characters that I enjoyed and a few that I honestly hated. Toxic kept you interested in a completely different way then Touch did. The story picks up not to long after Untouched. Toxic was much more of an emotional book. Dez and Kale are presented with an obstacle right away. Kale's ability to touch Dez appears to be glitchy. This leads to a very nervous Dez. Especially when Jade shows up. Supposedly there to help Kale control his gift. Jade has arterial motives. She has the hots for Kale and its sooo obvious. Well, to everyone except Kale. He is so innocent and kind of clueless about the whole situation. I blame Denazen. Along with the relationship drama there is the fact that Dez is  kind of dying and Dez's Dad is holding 2 precious options over Dez. Oh yea, and she has to worry about going crazy because of the supremacy thing. It's so much for one person to deal with. I'm surprised she didn't lose it. So the questions remain. Will Dez chose to live? Will she die for the ones she love? Will love win???

Although Kale is unaware of Jade's true motives sometimes I just wanted to shake him! To yell at him that she was playing him!! I honestly thought Dez would do it. It took her long enough to finally yell at him. The part at the end of the book made me feel better about the whole Jade situation. I missed Kale and Dez's relationship. It was my favorite part of Touch. They were so awesome together. I missed that in Toxic. It was my favorite kind of love story. Two people perfect for each other. No third party getting in the way. Until Toxic anyway. I was like NOOO!!

I wish book 3 would come out sooner then May of next year. It's going to be hard to wait for after the ending that we got. It's kind of a cliffhanger. It sounds like things are going to get worse before they get better. I have a bad feeling that Dez might not get a happy ending. I hope that I am wrong!!

Her only hope is to discover the real traitor before she loses everything--and she'll need Julian's help. That is, if Julian is really there to help her...and not destroy her.

Yeah, being a Nephilim isn't everything it's cracked up to be.

My Thoughts:
Unchained is the first book in the Nephilium Rising series by J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout's pen name). I have loved all of her books including her adult book Tempting the Best Man. So I can only imagine how awesome she will be able to write a paranormal adult book!!! After reading Tempting the Best Man I can only imagine the greatness!! I can't wait! It did get pushed back a couple months but, I think this one will be worth the wait!

Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls #1) by Tera Lynn Childs

Goodreads Summary:

Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster.

Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though.

Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they're triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters.

These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.

My Review:
I feel like I need to start this review off by saying I LOVE mythology. Ever since my first class in high school that involved mythology I have been enamored by it. I was probably the only one who really liked reading the Iliad for school. I love the books about the Gods. I have read quite a few actually. So when it came to a book about the decedents of Medusa. I was like YES!! I thought the story was very creative. I have never read one about Medusa's decedents.

The book was told from the point of view of each of the girls. I thought this was awesome because I felt like I got to know each of them. I really liked Grace. She seemed down to earth and was very nice. Just a regular girl with a regular family. I felt bad for Gretchen. She was alone and hunting monsters in her spare time. I was happy when these two found each other. Greer on the other hand rubbed me the wrong way. Her attitude needs a serious adjustment and I hope Grace and Gretchen can help with that. The monsters were creative as well. I never really considered all the possibilities! I felt like Sweet Venom was used to set up the next book and introduce us to the characters with just enough action to keep me on edge. Monsters are starting to appear a lot more often. There is a problem with the seal and the girls are right in the middle of it. When Gretchen's mentor goes missing things get dicey  There are a lot of questions to be answered. Why are there more monsters? What kind of abilities do the girls have? Who's trying to kill them?

There are a few young men in Sweet Venom. I kind of feel like there is more then meets the eye when it comes to them. Especially Milo, Thane, and Nick. Ugh! But, I have no idea what it is!! There's something going on with them and I know it!! I hope that in the girls future they will get to have fun with these guys. Should be interesting.

Tera Lyn Childs has built an amazing world for her readers. Full of mythological creatures and action. If you are a fan of mythology this one is a must read. There is myth, action, and a little romance. It was a book designed for me! As soon as I am done with this post I will be buying Sweet Shadows!

Entice (The Violet Eden Chapters #2) by Jessica Shirvington

Goodreads Summary:

Violet Eden is Grigori - part angel, part human. Her destiny is to protect humans from the vengence of exiled angels.
Knowing who to trust is key but, when Grigori reinforcements arrive, it becomes clear everyone is hiding something. Even Lincoln. The only thing Violet does know: Phoenix's hold over her is more dangerous than ever.
The race to find the one thing that could tilt the balance of power brings them all to the sacred mountains of Jordan, where Violet's power will be pushed to the extreme. And the ultimate betrayal exposed.

Enticed is the second compelling book in The Violet Eden Chapters.

My Review:
First of all let me say that I purchased the hardcovers of these books because the covers are so awesome!! Anyway Entice picks up not to long after Embrace left off. Violet is still trying to deal with her new role and her Grigori side. Along with trying to deal with her emotions about Phoenix and Lincoln. Like many young girls her life is tormented by the men in it!!I felt like Violet grew a lot as a person during Entice. She was dealing with school, training, and the Lincoln situation. She never really got any emotional rest or actual rest for that matter. There were a few different plot twists going on. Lots of  things going on in the background and some serious backstabbing! I don't want to go into details because I don't want to give anything away. The group is on the hunt for scriptures. It leads them to a different country. That was a very exciting part! There is way more of everything in this book. More action and romance and new characters.

I still have a puppy love thing for Lincoln. He does pull some crappy stuff in this book that makes me want to smack him in the back of the head to wake him up! I shouldn't be surprised that guys are basically blind! Phoenix isn't around very much in this book. He's there scheming  in the background more so. I am not convinced that he doesn't care about Violet. The new characters are great! I love Zoe and her attitude. Salvatore is super cute. Spence really surprised me. He was awesome! His personality was great and I loved how he enjoyed breaking the rules to help Violet. I was glad to see Steph took a larger part in the Grigori stuff to. I just hope it doesn't get her hurt. Magda...what can I say about her...other then I despise her! I never really liked her. I hate how she tried to make Violet mad by hanging out with Lincoln. She reminded me of the mean girl in high school. Nyla and Rudyard make it very interesting for Violet and Lincoln! But, that's all I'm saying!!

Entice ends on quite the cliffhanger. I'm super excited for Emblaze! It should be very interesting. Especially where Violet and Lincoln are concerned.

Wishlist Wednesday #17

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly post put on by Dani at the Pen to Paper blog. Where you post a book you really really want to read or one that has been on your wishlist! If you've seen my to-read list on Goodreads then you know there are plenty that I could use. So I decided to use this feature every Wednesday.

Title: Opal
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: December 11, 2012
Series Number: 3

Goodreads Summary:

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

My Thoughts:
Ok, this is a very obvious choice for me. The Lux series is by far one of my favorite series of all time. Jennifer Armentrout's writing is absolutely amazing. Obsidian was one of my favorite books. I read it in 2 days. The series just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see what happens with Katy and Daemon! I mean come on Daemon is so yummy!!!! Especially with all the new information about Dawson and Beth. It is getting harder and harder to wait for any of her books. I will read them all!!!!

Backdraft (The Secret Life of Trystan Scott #2) by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:

When Mari realizes that Trystan is the internet megastar, Day Jones, she can’t speak. Every time she listens to his song, it leaves her feeling so much. That song is bewitching. Everyone she knows heard it. As soon as it appeared on YouTube, it went viral, and then the guy who wrote it disappeared. Despite agents and record labels trying to lure Day5705 out, he remains anonymous. No one knows who Day Jones really is—except Mari.

To Trystan’s relief, Mari agrees to keep his secret. Part of him regrets uploading the song, but when he sings to Mari the song that once brought him solace, it fills him joy. In a life like his, joy is fleeting and Trystan plans on grabbing hold whenever a shot at happiness appears. To his surprise, Mari doesn't realize the song is about her. When Trystan tries to push her to see, he jeopardizes losing her entirely.

One misplaced kiss topples the fragile relationship, leaving Trystan reeling, trying to assemble the pieces and convincing Mari that she’s not just another conquest, even though everything he did—everything he said—makes it seem like she is. It isn't until Mari decides that being the good girl isn't working that things steam up. Trystan knows she wants to hook up with someone, and he doesn't know if he should stop her. Every attempt he makes to win her over goes bad and pushes her further away.

As the world gets one day closer to tracking down Day Jones, Trystan is one day closer to graduation and leaving this life forever. If Mari doesn't realize he loves her by then, she never will.

If you haven't read the first book this review may contain spoilers!!!!! FYI!

My Review:
There are books that you read that you really like or love. Then there are books that really touch your heart. I have only read a few that sincerely touch something deep inside. They are the ones that stay with you after reading them. This is one of those books. I relate a lot to Mari. Pressure to be perfect, whether it's in school or something else. I think we have all been there. I was. Mari and Trystan appear to be more alike then they think. Both with trouble at home and both head over heals for each other. Right when they were going to tell one another something would happen and neither of them would. Seriously, I was ready to burst!!! I just wanted them to tell each other already!!! The comment about hooking up with someone was the best catalyst you could ask for. I also loved the Kiss Assassin! Brilliant!

Trystan is pretty much the ideal guy. Slightly damaged but, I think Mari can rescue him. I felt bad for Trystan in book 1 and that continued through Backdraft. I wanted to wrap him in a warm blanket and give him hot chocolate or something. The poor guy needs a break from real life and go somewhere else. Hopefully with Mari!! Actually, they could both use a break from their lives.

I need book 3....like yesterday. If you haven't read this series yet YOU REALLY SHOULD! It is a  series of novellas that are worth reading! Will true love win? I'm honestly not sure yet. There are so many different ways this story could go. I will be anxiously waiting for the next one!
