The Proposition Vol. 2 (18+ Series)

Goodreads Summary:
There's no doubt in my mind that Bryan Ferro is serious--if I don't sleep with him, he'll destroy me. Everything I've earned will be blown away like dust, and my life will no longer be my own. His demand for just one night rolls into days. He doesn't want me for a one-time fling, it's more than that.

But as I stand there, ready to tell him off, I hear it. The familiar sound, the hesitation, the slight hitch in his voice, and that's what forces me to my knees. It's not Neil, Maggie, or even the money--it's Bryan.

My Review:
Things pick up right where volume 1 left off. Hallie is still pretty shocked by the whole situation. After she leaves Bryan she feels like she can't go home to Neil. Which makes complete sense. I don't like him! So she goes to her friend Maggies. Which happens to be in a bad neighborhood and Hallie sees something she shouldn't have. This leaves Maggie and Hallie to flee the apartment and go back to Neil's. Where Neil is apologetic and all nice. I wanted to slap him. Then out of the blue, who shows up inside Neil's house??? BRYAN! I was like, hell yea! Come on in and get yours! You can tell that Hallie has serious feelings for Bryan still. She even admits it to herself. I know where I want this series to go already! Will I get it? I don't know. I don't think Bryan is going about this the right way if he wants Hallie back. Will Hallie find happiness with Neil or will she be pining for Bryan? What will her answer be?

Bryan reminds me a little of Sean...in a way. I think something broke him and he isn't quite healed. He isn't as hard as Sean though. He is able to be nice most of the time. He hides his true self. He has to have feelings for Hallie and he should have picked a better way to express them then blackmail...Anyway, I think something happened to him after him and Hallie were done. He seems tortured and the pain pills?? I see his secret being pretty big and I can't wait to find out what it is!

Jon makes an appearance, which is great. Because, I love Jon! Almost more then Trystan but, not quite. Bryan is quickly becoming my #3 however. He is going to prove to be delicious and interesting all at the same time. I am loving where this is going and can't wait for volume 3!

ABOUT RETURN TO SENDER (Letters to Nowhere Volume 2)

If only summer could last forever…

Karen and Jordan might be out in the open with their relationship, but that doesn't make it any easier for them to face events looming in the future. Like Jordan leaving for college halfway across the country. Or Karen's win at a big international gymnastics competition setting the bar high for her future and adding pressure like she's never experienced before.

But when Nina Jones (aka-US Gymnastics Dictator), makes plans for Karen and teammate Stevie to train at a gymnastics camp for a month—the same camp where Jordan coaches—romantic summer interludes replace their fears of being apart. Both Jordan and Karen know that when fall comes, some very tough decisions will have to be made, but for now, it’s stolen kisses, racing hearts, and whispered words.

Goodreads Summary:
How many dreams can you chase at once?

Even with bad boy, TJ, disrupting their morning workouts, Karen and Stevie’s daily battles with each other are sure to bring both of them closer to a national title at next month’s championships. It’s the kind of feud that creates winning results.

Until a fall from the uneven bars shakes Karen’s rock-solid confidence. Not only does she balk every time she so much as attempts a routine, she’s also facing all this without much support from Jordan. After receiving some bad news, Jordan’s reluctance to listen to reason causes Karen so much frustration she begins to avoid him, needing space to deal with her own issues. He needs someone to force him to make the right choice, he needs his dad to intervene and Karen knows this, but is torn between her loyalty to Jordan and her concern for her coach’s son. Even though both paths lead to the same person—Jordan—it feels like she’s choosing between two different people.

And then there’s the growing tension between TJ and Stevie. They’re obviously on the verge of either ripping each other’s heads off or ripping each other’s clothes off. It’s hard for either Jordan or Karen to tell where those two are headed. Tension is building from every possible outlet and there’s bound to be an explosion of some kind in the very near future.

Partials by Dan Wells

Goodreads Summary:
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Dan Wells, acclaimed author of I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulsepounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.

My Review:
I was instantly drawn to this series because of the RM virus. I work in healthcare so I love those kinds of books. Kira is only 16 and she works in the maternity ward at the hospital. Monitoring the babies after they are born. The trouble is, the babies don't live...ever. Ever since the Partial War and the release of the RM virus none of the babies live. As you can imagine this ways on Kira. The government has the Hope Act in effect. This is a law that requires girls at 18 to become pregnant. That way at some point a baby has to be born immune right? Kira is dead set on finding a cure for RM. She excelled in the research department and asks to be moved. After some time researching she realizes something. No studies have been done on Partials. Which makes sense, they are biotech that were created to be soldiers. After being denied permission to go retrieve one she takes measures into her own hands. Kira and a small group of trustworthy friends are about to set out to the mainland to capture a very dangerous creature. They will not all make it back. They are willing to risk themselves for the future, for mankind, for their own children.

There is a lot going on in this book. You have to worry about The Voice (a rebel group), RM (apocalyptic virus), and the Partials (man made killing machines). That's a lot to think about. There isn't very many humans left. The ones left are immune to the RM virus and constantly trying to figure out how to cure it. Kira will risk everything because her "sister" is pregnant. She doesn't want her to have to go through the pain of losing her child. Will the humans learn from the Partials? Will the War just be re-started? There are a lot of secrets with these characters too. Government cover ups, hidden agendas, and lies. It's hard to know what is exactly happening and who to trust. Will the humans and Partials be able to work together to save both of their races? Or are they destined to die?

There isn't a lot of time for romance in this one. Kira and Marcus are in love and have been a while. There are a few hot kissy scenes but, nothing more. They are pretty busy trying to save humanity. I really liked Samm. I kind of hope something happens between him and Kira. Not sure how that would work though...if it even would?

I really enjoyed this book and I have already purchased the next in the series. I am super curious about what's going to happen next. I honestly don't know how this one will end! Can't wait to start it!!

All for You (The 12 NA's of Christmas) by Marquita Valentine

Goodreads Summary:
Bully. Tormentor. Lover.
West Diaz has been all of these things to me.
After being gone for two years, he's back, begging for my forgiveness. And not just my forgiveness... He wants more.

He wants... Me.

My Review:
I was sucked into West and McKenzie's story. I think a lot of people can relate to being bullied. I for one can. I think that is why this novella struck a cord with me. It sucks be tormented in high school. What happened between West and McKenzie only made it worse for her. She was crushed by what he did to her and I don't blame her at all. She had her heart ripped out. I don't think you ever get over that. Then West turns up later in her life and tries to make amends. Old habits die hard and McKenzie is skeptical of West. Especially with Charlie in town too. Will McKenzie be able to forgive and forget? Will she give West another chance?

Things are kind of hot and cold between West and McKenzie. They have a lot of issues to work through and West is willing to bend over backwards to prove he is a better man. That he is sorry for what he did to McKenzie. This is an emotionally charged novella. A lot of hurt, pain, and love in such a short read. I both liked and hated West. For what he did to McKenzie. The novella was in alternating POV's and that made a huge difference. I loved getting both sides of the story. These two also had some hot moments. But, when West goes back to old ways will McKenzie look past them or will she be heartbroken forever?

This was the first book I have read from this author. I intend on buying more of her books after this one. It was such a great read I couldn't put it down. I read it in one evening and am left yearning for more!

Die For Me by Amy Plum

Goodreads Summary:
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

My Review:
I have waited a long time to start this series. I'm glad I started this series! I will be reading the rest or sure. Die for Me is truly a unique story. I haven't read anything like this one. Kate has been through a lot in her life. Her parents died and she moved to Paris to live with her grandparents. I can imagine that would be one of the hardest things to live through. Losing your parents...I can't even imagine that pain. She lives her life in books and at coffee shops. I feel like I could really relate to her. Her life was ordinary and quite. Until she met Vincent. Vincent lights up her life a little bit when she is surrounded by darkness. She starts to feel normal again. But, something isn't right. Especially after his friend Jules, is killed and Vincent doesn't bat an eye. Will Kate be able to deal with Vincent's secrets? Will her and her family be safe associating with them?

There were lots of great characters in this book. I loved Jules, Ambrose, and Charlotte. Georgia, Kate's sister, was also a fun character. She deals with her parents death differently then Kate does. She is a social butterfly who enjoys clubs. While Kate is more of a wallflower. They are polar opposites, apart from the fact that they both care about each other. They are all each other has left. The scenes are described so nicely in the writing. I have never been to Paris but, I loved the way the author described the city as well as the French words thrown in. Just perfect!

I thought the relationship between Kate and Vincent was great. I didn't feel like the rushed into things. Kate actually considered how dangerous it would be to actually be with Vincent. She didn't just throw caution to the wind and jump in and for good reasons. She could be put at risk and going through what she would have to is a lot to consider. It was a growing romance that I loved!

I am definitely going to be reading the rest of this series. I am hooked and will be getting the next book!

Question of the week
Pick a book in your favorite genre that you’d recommend to a reluctant reader.
I have 2 genres that I would try to get people to read. I have a friend that says she will never read romance. I have been trying to get her to read Toni Aleo's Assassin series. It is a hockey romance. I always get the "Oh it's just a bunch of smut." Well let me tell you this series has such amazing stories. The romantic scenes are just a bonus. They are amazing! She has the first book now :)

The second one would probably be Jennifer Armentrouts Lux series. That one has so many awesome YA features that I think I could get someone to read it pretty easily!

Just as a side note. Our college football team has their last play off game on Friday night so I will get back to everyone who follows on Saturday! Thanks for stopping by!

ARC Review of Ruined by Jus Accardo

Goodreads Summary:
Hell is looking for a way to break loose…

Jax lost the genetic lottery. Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, he's plagued by a curse that demands violence in exchange for his happiness. He left everything behind, including the girl he loved, but thriving on the pain of others is lonely… And it's killing him.

After a series of heartbreaking losses, Samantha put rubber to pavement and headed for college as fast as her clunker could carry her. But she can't outrun her problems. When an attack at school drives her back home, she's thrown into the path of a past—and a guy—she's been trying to forget.

Sam strains Jax's control over his darkness, but running isn't an option this time. Someone—or, something—followed her home from school: a ruthless monster with a twisted plan centuries in the making. Forced together to survive, and fighting an attraction that could destroy them both, Jax and Sam must stop a killer bent on revenge.

My Review:
Finally! A book that depicts demons as demons! Not the cuddly, super sex charged, or things that area actually good inside. Well, I might be wrong about the super sex charged part but, whatever. Jax has been fighting with his real life inner demon his whole life. Being a decedent of Cain definitely sucks. The demon has a hunger for pain and fear. Something that needs to be fed frequently. Jax had to leave home for if he didn't he would murder his twin brother, Chase. When Jax is drawn back to his home town because his father figure, Rick, is dying. This puts a strain on Jax because Chase and the girl he loves, Sammy, are both there. Sammy is the one person with the power to crush Jax. He pines for her but, he is also very dangerous. The demon will hurt hurt her if given the chance. Will being back home destroy Jax? Will the demon's desires become to strong? Will Jax hurt the ones he loves?

I loved Jax as a character. He was complicated, loving, dangerous, and hot all in one. He has some control over the demon but, not much. The demon has the ability to take over his body at times. He has never truly been happy, not like Chase. Chase has been whoring himself around and living it up his adult life. Jax is the one who lurks in the shadows waiting to feed off violence and anger. I feel like deep down he just wants to be happy. Unfortunately, happiness causes him physical pain and Sam makes him happy. So you can imagine what that works!

Jax and Sam have a very different relationship. It's not all unicorns and rainbows. It's real. Demons are dangerous. Jax's demon could seriously hurt Sam. This makes Jax pretty much an ass towards Sam. He wants to push her away. To keep her safe. The book goes back and forth between Jax and Sam's point of view so we get to see how Sam feels about all this too. I was truly heartbroken for her. She loves Jax with all her heart. They have some pretty hot scenes too. I mean like...light your panties on fire hot. To be honest, I had a love/hate relationship with Jax's demon. He came in handy but, also makes Jax's life hell. Sam and Jax will need each other to get through what is coming. I just don't know if they will have a future.

I really liked this book! I am so curious as to where the story is headed! I so hope we get more of Jax and Sam's story. Things are far from over!

Title: Gasp
Author: Lisa McMann
Series Number: 3
Release Date: June 3, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
After narrowly surviving two harrowing tragedies, Jules now fully understands the importance of the visions that she and people around her are experiencing. She’s convinced that if the visions passed from her to Sawyer after she saved him, then they must now have passed from Sawyer to one of the people he saved.

That means it’s up to Jules to figure out which of the school shooting survivors is now suffering from visions of another crisis. And once she realizes who it is, she has to convince that survivor that this isn't all crazy—that the images are of something real. Something imminent.

As the danger escalates more than ever before in the conclusion to the Visions series, Jules wonders if she'll finally find out why and how this is happening—before it's too late to prevent disaster.

My Thoughts:
I am really looking forward to this book. I really liked the first two in the series and I am curious to see where it's going to go from their.
