Summary:

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials--engineered organic beings identical to humans--has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them--connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Goodreads Summary:

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy

Tessa Gray should be happy - aren't all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her.

My Review:
You know those books that you finish and think about it for days after because it was so awesome? This is one of those books. I liked this series better then The Mortal Instruments. I am going to try to do this as spoiler free as possible but, it will be very challenging.

I loved the time period and the way the characters talked.I just loved it! It was so well written and the flow was perfect. The battle scenes were really good too. Tessa, Will, and Jem's stories were not the only ones that were interesting. Sophia, Charlotte  Henry, Gideon, Gabriel and Cecily's stories were all good. There was never a dull moment, always something going on in the background. The love triangle is resolved and in the most beautiful romantic way. I felt so many emotions while reading. I laughed, was happy, sad. I cried at least four times!

Tessa is still engaged to Jem and she does truly love him. At the same time she loves Will. Her heart is divided. When Jem becomes even more dangerously ill and his life is on the line things start to change. Jem doesn't have much time and Mortmain has purchased all available Yin Fen. This leads to many things. Mortmain wants Tessa in exchange for Yin Fen to save Jem but, Will won't let her go. She is willing but, Will and Jem both forbid it. After Mortmain makes a direct attack on the Institute there is an even bigger change. Jem is worse and Tessa is gone. Everyone is in a bad place and worried. Charlotte is in danger of being relieved of her position and they figured out where Mortmain is hiding. I don't wan to say to much about how the book ended because it is insane!

Clare does an amazing job writing about Jem and Will's bond. It is done in such a beautiful way. I found myself in tears when they talked sometimes. It was simply amazing. There bond is so strong! Like I said the love triangle is resolved. Not in a way that I ever saw coming. Tessa goes through heartache, grief, death, love, and so much more. Her relationship with both Will and Jem was beautiful. I never liked love triangles but, this one works and it the best one I have ever read about. One way to say it is Tessa loses Jem but, has Will. Probably not in the way your thinking. I loved them both and so the ending was bitter sweet. The epilogue was awesome! I am so glad it was in the book. Since Tessa is immortal I was curious what was going to happen when those she loved so dearly passed away. Like I said, bitter sweet ending.

This is by far one of my favorite series. I am sad to see this series end but, I loved the way it did. If you like The Moral Instruments you must read this one!! It is so amazing and written so well! READ IT! 100 stars!

ARC Review of The Rising by Kelley Armstrong

Goodreads Summary:

Things are getting desperate for Maya and her friends. Hunted by the powerful St. Clouds and now a rival Cabal as well, they're quickly running out of places to hide. And with the whole world thinking they died in a helicopter crash, it's not like they can just go to the authorities for help.

All they have is the name and number of someone who might be able to give them a few answers. Answers to why they're so valuable, and why their supernatural powers are getting more and more out of control.

But Maya is unprepared for the truths that await her. And now, like it or not, she'll have to face down some demons from her past if she ever hopes to move on with her life. Because Maya can't keep running forever.

Old secrets are revealed and unexpected characters make a surprising return in this stunning conclusion to Kelley Armstrong's New York Times bestselling Darkness Rising trilogy.

My Review:
I was so excited to get an Advanced copy of The Rising. I loved this series and the previous series that got tied into this book. I am going to try to do a review without to many spoilers however it may be a little difficult. Maya and her friends are sick of running. They are being hunted by more then one group now and it is making it harder to escape. There is a new character introduced whom I am sure you will love! Because I sure did! Maya and her friends end up getting separated and Maya is captured. This isn't a complete loss though. She is taken to where Rafe, Annie, and the rest are. She is however without Daniel and Corey. Some big secrets are revealed here that leads to a very daring escape plan. Maya is desperate at this point, Daniel is badly hurt, according to the Cabal, and she needs to get to him. She is also worried that she is starting to regress and maybe they can help her here. They have helped Annie. What if it starts to happen to her?  Will she be able to help save her friends from a lifetime of running and hiding? Will she ever get her family back? If they choose to negotiate what will they lose and who can be trusted?

Oh yea, and the characters from The Darkest Powers Series are back! Yea, I'm not going to lie, when Derek made an appearance I was like YEA DEREK!! It was really exciting to see my other favorite characters come back into the story. My only complaint is that they weren't in this book enough!! I wanted more of Chloe, Derek, and Simon. Will the two groups be able to work together to escape from the multiple Cabal's now after them? Would they be willing to negotiate with the groups that they don't trust? So many lies and untrustworthy people. These teenagers go through more then anyone should ever have to. They truly only have each other and trust no one else.

Moving on to love interests! Yes, every book has them so get over it. I loved Rafe. Through the entire series.  He seemed like a very good guy who would do anything for Maya. I did feel like they rushed a little bit into their relationship but, it worked for me. However, there was Daniel. I know Maya repeatedly says they are "just friends" but, there is no way. They are to perfect for each other. But, Maya remains with Rafe. There is new information that comes to light during this book. I will say that without the Epilogue I would have been upset with the ending. After that though I was satisfied.

I am so sad to see this series ending. As I am with most. This one a little more so for a few reasons. And yes I did cry when I finished it. Not like crazy or anything but, I was sad to see it end. I kind of hope that maybe an adult series with these characters will happen but, I haven't heard anything about that. It is just a hope of mine I guess! I would highly recommend both the Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising Series!

Title: The Storyteller
Author: Jodi Picoult
Release Date: February 26, 2013
Series Number: 1

Goodreads Summary:

Sage Singer befriends an old man who's particularly beloved in her community. Josef Weber is everyone's favorite retired teacher and Little League coach. They strike up a friendship at the bakery where Sage works. One day he asks Sage for a favor: to kill him. Shocked, Sage refuses…and then he confesses his darkest secret - he deserves to die, because he was a Nazi SS guard. Complicating the matter? Sage's grandmother is a Holocaust survivor.

What do you do when evil lives next door? Can someone who's committed a truly heinous act ever atone for it with subsequent good behavior? Should you offer forgiveness to someone if you aren't the party who was wronged? And most of all - if Sage even considers his request - is it murder, or justice?

My Thoughts:
I love most Jodi Picoult's books. Not all of them but, most of them. This one sounds really interesting and I can't wait to read it. Her books are written so well and with such emotion. I absolutely loved 19 Minutes it was amazing. So I am looking forward to this one!

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Goodreads Summary:

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My Review:
Scarlet was an amazing story. It goes between Cinder and Scarlet's stories. At fist I was worried we wouldn't get to see much of Cinder's story and we wouldn't know what was going on with her story. However, I was VERY wrong. The stories melded together and the reader ends up with more information about what is going on throughout Cinder's world. We get to find out about how the Lunar Princess came to Earth and how she became what she is now. It was amazing writing. When Cinder and Scarlet's stories finally come together it leads to a whirlwind of action. War, death, and destruction are just a few things that happen during this book. We also get to glimpse Kai's side a few times too. I loved Scarlet. It was an amazing sequel that was written very well. Will Cinder be able to save Kai? Will she be able to learn how to use her Lunar gifts to overthrow the Queen? So many questions!!

Wolf is the mysterious guy who Scarlet keeps running into. After seeing him fight she has a lot of questions. Unfortunately  Wolf doesn't give many answers. He does however agree to help Scarlet find her missing Grandma. He knows the pack that took her. It is a dangerous journey for them. Scarlet has no idea what she is getting into. I was honestly shocked when it all came together.  I couldn't predict what was going to happen and I love that about books! Wolf's feelings start to get in the way of his duty and things get kind of crazy towards the end.

Thorne is the guy that Cinder escapes from jail with. Not by choice. She accidentally ends up in his cell. I really liked him. His personality was fun, even with the terrible situations they ended up in. He was carefree and very different from Cinder. Maybe that's why I like him so much. I don't think he was really a love interest for Cinder. At least not to me anyway. Kai is still the guy who makes her all light and fluffy. Things between them are obviously strained. Kai is forced to find Cinder and turn her over to the Queen to avoid war. This turns out to be a very difficult task. I really hope things get better for Kai. He is in a bad place at the end of this book. Cinder will do whatever she can to get him out of it. I hope that they will get to be together!

I am sad that the next book doesn't come out until 2014! That is such a long time to wait. But, I will wait and get it as soon as it comes out. I would highly recommend this series!

Surrender Your Love by J.C. Reed

This one is not a YA book, if you couldn't tell from the cover. Just an FYI before you decide to read it!

Goodreads Summary:

Meeting Jett was like lightning. Dangerous. Better left untouched. And better forgotten. But lightning always strikes twice.

Brooke Stewart, a realtor in New York, doesn’t do relationships. When she’s sent to a remote estate to finalize a real estate deal, she discovers her new boss is no other than the guy she left naked in bed.

Sexy, dangerously handsome, and arrogant Jett Mayfield attracts trouble, and women, like a lightning rod. But the night he meets Brooke he gets more than he bargained for. The green-eyed millionaire playboy isn’t used to taking no for an answer, and he isn’t about to start now.

When he proposes two months of no strings sex, Brooke is intrigued and accepts his proposal. Little does she know Jett’s determined to claim the one woman he can’t have, pulling her deeper into his dangerous world.

A man who doesn't take 'no' for an answer.
A woman afraid to surrender to love.
Two lives that are about to cross...and secrets laid bare.

My Review:
I was contacted to review this book by the author. And boy am I glad she reached out. I really enjoyed Surrender Your Love. The book kept me on the edge of my seat and honestly I didn't see the end coming. Brooke and Jett are two people who both had rough pasts. Their family lives were not ideal when they were growing up. Because of that they both have a few issues as adults. Brooke is kind of working at at dead end job but, she hasn't found anything better yet. Jett is a rich hot guy with a very successful business. It's this business that brings them together.

Brooke ends up getting recruited for the job of a lifetime. When the mysterious new boss turns out to be none other then the guy who was in her bed a day ago things are uphill from there! Brook and Jett spend a wonderful 2 weeks in Italy looking at a property that Jett needs to purchase. They do get to know each other quite fast. They realize they have more in common then they thought. Can a relationship possibly last with Brooke's boss? Can she get over her insecurities about commitment?? Brooke feels like Jett is keeping something from her...what could it be?

Jett is your typical hot guy whose dripping with cash. He gets what he wants when he wants it. This is kind of new for Brooke but, she goes with it. Jett is a powerful man who has to buy the property in Italy at any cost. This property does have a bit of a past to it. Lets just say that little something isn't an ideal selling point. But, none the less Jett needs it. I am hoping to figure out why in the next book! About half way through I felt like Jett was kind of pining for Brooke. Which is a nice change from the girl falling head over heals for someone who doesn't want her and blah blah blah. I loved his little point of view at the end. It was a great way to wrap up the book and I hope we get some more from his perspective.

I am so glad I was offered a review copy of Surrender Your Love. It was a great and quick read. I am looking forward to the next installment!

Shattered (The Secret Life of Trystan Scott #4) by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
After Mari's attempt to help Trystan goes horribly wrong they are both forced to deal with the consequences.

My Review:
Shattered picked up literally right where Riptide left off. Mari is left standing outside Trystan's door after his dad tackled him. She does the brave thing and goes into the house. Things unfold in a terrible way and someone almost dies! I know right! Things for Mari and Trystan change after that. There is some serious guilt  on Trystan's side of things. It was because of him that all that happened to Mari. But, Mari stands tall. She is one heck of a girl. She is able to withstand a lot. Especially, after what happens and from her parents. Her parents are pretty much terrible. I have a hard time liking them even a little bit. Her and Trystan are soul mates. Seriously....They fit each other so well. They are each other's rock. That light at in the dark that keeps them going. It really is the perfect love story. Things take another turn at the very end of the books. Things are forever going to change and I don't know how it will turn out for them. I desperately want them to be together!!!

Trystan is the silent hero. He puts on an amazing show for the world even when something horrific happens to him. The guy has been through enough. I really hope his luck changes. He truly cares about Mari. His feelings are so well written it's like your really inside his head. Just perfect. Trystan is in need of a new life. As long as Mari's in it I don't think it would matter if they lived in a box or a mansion. True love!

I LOVE this series! If you haven't read it yet then now is the time!! Get all the novella's and catch up!

Off Sides by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary:
“I'm not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was the impossible expectations I faced, maybe it was my own self-loathing. But I just knew I needed something different to happen. I needed someone...something...to derail me from my current path. Otherwise, I would become lost...a hollowed out shell of a man. So I did it. I approached her, then I pursued her, then I made her mine. And my life was saved...”

Ryan Burnham is the privileged son of a U.S. Congressman and captain of his university’s hockey team. While he is on the verge of fulfilling his dreams to play in the NHL, his parents want him on a different course. One he is expected to accept for the sake of his family’s public image.

Forced her to abandon her music career after the heart breaking death of her parents, Danny Cross exists on the opposite side of the tracks from Ryan. She is struggling to make her own way, working two jobs, attending college part time and volunteering in a homeless shelter. She is on a mission to build her own success.

With a chance meeting, their vastly different worlds collide, causing each to evaluate whether they are truly on the correct path to self-fulfillment and happiness. Can their relationship survive? Particularly when others are against them every step of the way. A lot can happen in just ten short days...

My Review:
Well as you all know I am a hockey NUT! So books with hockey in them are kind of a given. The author asked if I'd review Off Sides and I was like um yes! I read this book in 2 days. I really got into it. I loved the way it went between Danny and Ryan's point of view. I really like books that do that. We get to know more about each of the characters. Ryan is the rich jock who has rich friends. Some of them are decent and some are your typical snobby rich kids. Ryan meets Danny when he and his friends go to the diner she works at. She's not  your typical match for Ryan. She has purple tipped hair and facial piercings but, Ryan is instantly attracted to her. Things for Ryan and Danny get off to a rough start. They work through some of it but, lets face it they are from different social crowds and this leads to some awkward moments. Danny seems like a genuinely great person. I felt bad for her during certain points. When Angeline talked to her and Ryan's Mom. Just awful. I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend it.

Ryan changed through this book. I think Danny changes him. For the better of course. He has been a victim of his own family his whole life. Danny helps free him from that. Ryan's family is all about impressions. They care so much about what other people think of them that it seriously wrecks them. His Mom is a piece of work. He turns out to be a pretty awesome guy. Oh yea, and he's the captain of the college hockey team. Which is huge!! Well in my eyes anyway. His parents never really wanted him to pursue that dream. They want him to be a lawyer. Danny helps his see that his dreams matter. Danny has some secrets of her own and has her own family stuff too. They are kind of perfect for each other. However, something tears them apart. Ryan is in trouble with the law and Danny does whats necessary to save him. Will it mean the end of their relationship?? Of each others dreams?

I really enjoyed this story and if you like romance/hot guys/hockey then this books is for you.
