COVER REVEAL!! Something Great by M. Clarke

Something Great
New Adult novel coming July 24th, 2013
By author M. Clarke aka Mary Ting (Crossroads Saga)

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.
Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He is everything Jenna does not need in her life. Only Max does not see it that way. His pursuit is relentless making Jenna even more determined to push him away. All she wanted was security, a career, and love that was everlasting.
Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd, but she liked it that way. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner with her best friend, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before just by his mere presence—dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show she’d dreamt about since she was a child, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Max, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, charm, smooth words, and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, he was utterly consuming her, mind and body, and in places she’d never thought possible. Would she be willing to step over the boundary and risk her safety net? Was she willing to take advice from her best friend and love hard and risk getting hurt, rather than not really love at all and possibly miss out on finding something great?

Excerpt

“So not your biggest fan at the moment,” I said, closing the office door behind me. The runofffrom my jeans had soaked my sneakers pretty good. With each step, I gave a slight squishing noise accompanied by an annoying squeak against the old tile floor.

From across the room, Mom stared. “What happened to you?”
“It attacked me.” Tossing my bag on the couch, I sank into her chair and made sure to grind my butt into the cushion. Got it nice and wet. I was all about sharing the love—and right now, the love was soggy.
She laughed, waving a folder in my direction. “Surely you’re overreacting. It was one little zombie. They don’t attack people.”
“I’m serious, Ma. It tried to drown me. And the client assaulted me with ugly footwear. As far as punishments go, I’d say we’re probably square. I’ve learned my lesson.”
“You’re serious?” Amused expression now replaced by concern, she crossed the room and leaned over her desk to get a better look at me.
“As a coronary.” Once I was sure the chair had sponged up all it could, I stood and huffed past her. Pulling at my favorite T-shirt—the word Fate inside a blood red heart, is a four letter word on the back—I said, “Child welfare would not be happy to hear you tried to feed your only child to a walking corpse…”
“But why would it attack? Did you provoke it?” Folding her arms, she frowned. “Insult it, perhaps?”
I winked at her. “Provoke it? Sure. I went and wiggled my ass in front of it yelling lunch just to see what’d happen.” I’d called it Stinky, but that didn’t count as an insult. Something couldn’t be considered an insult if it was true, right?
Right eyebrow twitching, she fought against a smile. “But you’re okay, right? No bites, broken bones, head injuries, possessions…?”
I smiled and did a little twirl. “All in one piece and still me.”
Mom had a checklist she went through at the end of each job. I was known for taking almost as much damage as I inflicted.
“Oh, and you’re probably going to get a call from the client. I sorta smashed her fence in the process.”
Mom groaned. “I told you to be more careful.”
“It’s not like I tried to break anything.”
“Something tells me you didn’t try hard enough not to break anything, either.”
“In my defense, it wasn’t a simple trap and slap…”
“We can’t afford this.” She reached down and pulled a white envelope out from under a stack of papers. “This is the bill for that Mercedes you smashed.”
“Oh! So not my fault. How was I supposed to know that Spring Heel was gonna land on the car? If it makes you feel any better, I think he was aiming for my head…”
“If you keep this up, we won’t even be able to afford the rent.”
She was right, of course, and it made me feel horrible. “I’m sorry. I guess I’m a wrecking ball wrapped in blue jeans. Take my cut of this job and put it toward the repairs. Keep my paycheck for the next month, too.” A good start, but it didn’t feel like enough. Sure, it would cover the damages—I hoped—but I felt guilty about upsetting her. The bills that were piling up kept her awake at night. This was only going to make things worse. We got a fair amount of business, but the overhead in our line of work was sky high.
As much as I hated the idea, I knew what would cheer her up. “I’ll even throw in pet possessions for the next month.”

Title: The Beautiful and the Cursed
Author: Page Morgan
Release Date: May 14, 2013
Series Number: 1

Goodreads Summary:

After a bizarre accident, Ingrid Waverly is forced to leave London with her mother and younger sister, Gabby, trading a world full of fancy dresses and society events for the unfamiliar city of Paris.

In Paris there are no grand balls or glittering parties, and, disturbingly, the house Ingrid’s twin brother, Grayson, found for them isn’t a house at all. It’s an abandoned abbey, its roof lined with stone gargoyles that could almost be mistaken for living, breathing creatures.

And Grayson has gone missing.

No one seems to know of his whereabouts but Luc, a devastatingly handsome servant at their new home.

Ingrid is sure her twin isn’t dead—she can feel it deep in her soul—but she knows he’s in grave danger. It will be up to her and Gabby to navigate the twisted path to Grayson, a path that will lead Ingrid on a discovery of dark secrets and otherworldly truths. And she’ll learn that once they are uncovered, they can never again be buried.

My Thoughts:
The cover of this one caught my eye right away. I really like it. The summary is also a different from the normal vampire/wolf/fairy books I usually read. It's always nice to change it up ever now and then. Have any of you read this one yet?

ARC Review of He Belongs to Me by Theresa Rizzo

Goodreads Summary:

He Belongs to Me is a love story . . . a tale of betrayal and deception and of a young mother's determination to recover what belongs to her.

Forced to leave her baby and tricked into relinquishing her parental rights, four years later Catherine Boyd is back and she'll do anything to regain custody of her son--even reconcile with the husband falsely accused of killing their son's twin.

All in the name of love for a little boy, generations of pain and tragedy are exposed in a courtroom drama.

My Review:
I was lucky enough that the author reached out to me with an ARC to review. I can tell you that I LOVED this book! I'm afraid my review won't do it justice! This books shows the fierceness of a mother trying to get her son back. She will go to any length to get him back. Catherine has had a rough life. After the death of her son's twin brother (Bobby) her life was turned upside down. Her husband was arrested for murdering Bobby. Clearly he was falsely accused when the situation is explained. That alone is enough to make someone lose it. There are other things that happened around that time to contribute to Catherine and Thomas's relationship trouble.

Her family for one. Her parents were just awful. I think they thought they were doing the right thing for their kids when in fact they were slowly destroying them. After Bobby's death Thomas leaves his wife and family to give them some time to recover. Around this time Catherine signs temporary custody to her parents so she can attend college. Or is that really what happened??? Her family is built on secrets and lies. Many of these things come to light when Catherine is in court with against her parents to try to get her son back. Her parents were to worried about what everyone would think of them that they tried to keep things out of the public eye. Trust me, after that trial none of them will be the same. Secrets leave scars that run deep and her parents don't know the whole truth. Some seriously shocking things!!! I was like OMG no way!!

Thomas and Catherine were in love. They were married very young and after the death of Bobby they ended up apart. They have both finished college and when Catherine finds out her parents will not give her son Drew back to her she confides in her lawyer. Her lawyer thinks it would be best if her and Thomas tried to work things out and jointly seek custody. This leads to Catherine contacting Thomas and a whirlwind of a "fake" relationship. To me it was a second chance for them. They still loved each other, even after the crap in their past. It was hard in the beginning. Thomas had a lot of reservations. Time doesn't heal all wounds.  I was really hoping things would work out for them. They deserve it. They were so cute together too. Their love is special. They shared secrets and pain with each other. You only find out at the end how true that is. I really loved them!!

I would highly recommend this book. It is full of great characters and a great story. Mothers will go to any length for their children. Will Catherine get Drew back? Will her life ever be the same? You'll have to read to find out!

Title: Obsession
Author: Jennifer Armentrout
Release Date: May 31, 2013
Series Number: 1

Goodreads Summary:

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn't chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn't believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life…or is it Hunter?

My Thoughts:
I know this book will be good. Why you ask? It takes place in the Lux world. Which we are introduced to in Jennifer Armentrout's YA series. I have loved that series so much. I think that an adult companion novel will be even better. The characters from the YA series will crossover into this one which should be great as well. I can't wait for this book!! Have you guys read any of her books? What do you think?

ARC Review of Until I Break by M. Leighton

Goodreads Summary:

"I’m intrigued. Tempted beyond what I’ve ever been before. To know her, to open her up. To break her."

In love, sometimes what you fear most is exactly what you need.

Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control.

And she doesn't exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn't know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.

Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.

Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

**This book may be read as a stand-alone, as the story of Alec and Samantha comes to a conclusion in this book**

My Review:
Brace yourselves, Until I Break is a gripping story full of love, lust, and twists that knock you off your seat. M. Leighton does not disappoint as she delivers another amazing book. Samantha is an author who lives a double life. When she is on tour or doing events she is dressed as a completely different person. She has had a rough life and prefers to keep it hidden. I really liked how the story bought bits and pieces of the book Samantha wrote. Her hero Mason is her fictional book boyfriend if you will. She is pretty shocked when her version of Mason walks into a book event. It catches her off guard. What she doesn't know is that Alec Brand is not a hero. He isn't Mason.  He doesn't pretend to be either. He has his secrets. He is very upfront about himself and what he wants. My favorite quote:

"I won't hurt you, Samantha," I pledge quietly... "This is all about pleasure, pleasure you've never known before, pleasure I want to introduce you too. A little fear can heighten the senses; a little pain can feel like ecstasy. Would you like me to show you?"

Alec is a box of surprises that man. There are twists and turns that I never saw coming. Many times I was like O_O  Alec promises to show Samantha a wild side of lust. Alec is not a man who enjoys dates and long walks on the beach. Well maybe the beach part but, only if it ends a certain way. He is very experienced and Samantha only writes about it. He likes blind folds and toys while Samantha has never dabbled. Her past has damaged her and she is worried she will never feel pleasure again. Alec vows to change this. Will he be able to? Will Samantha ever be able to tame the wild beast? Is Alec destined to be alone forever?

This book is a tad more erotic then her other books. I personally loved it! I found the story refreshing and fun. Ok, it was super HOT! More then just romance however, it is an amazing story. The things that Alec does both frighten and intrigue Samantha. There are a few times when she doesn't know if sheIt was nice to see a character like her, whom we could all relate to. The excerpt's of the vampire book Samantha was writing were great too!! I honestly hope we will get a chance to read it.

This was a great book. I loved it. I will continue to read whatever this woman writes, it's gold. You really need to read this book!!

My Review:
This series just gets better and better. We finally get to know Sean in this volume. It is all about him and Avery. I have been looking forward to a volume like this since it started! I love these two together, even if their relationship is kind of toxic. This volume focuses on the two days that Sean gets with Avery. Well, I guess the ones he purchased. Oh and we get to find out what naughty things Sean likes to do. This volume is a little more graphic but, in a good way! It is sexual but, more so psychological  I mean come on, we all knew by this point that Sean would like messed up stuff. It was perfect in my opinion and I was glad to hear it was being left in it!! Will Avery and Sean give a relationship a try? Will Black let Avery out if she wants to?

I loved that we got to know Sean and how he tics. We find out more of what happened to his wife and how she died. This all happens right away which is great. We also find out that Sean has siblings. One in particular that will make your jaw drop and your eye balls pop out of your head. Yup, its just like that. I thought the romance was really good. Avery doesn't want to push Sean into her kind of relationship which is huge for her. She loves him so much. I hope it will be enough.

Ok, with the huge revelations brought to light in this volume I honestly don't know what is going to happen. Sean's family member changes everything. What does he want? What will happen now that we know who it is??? I don't know!! I really really want to though. I have a feeling Sean and Avery's story is just beginning. Bring it on I say!

ARC's
Summary:
In love, sometimes what you fear most is exactly what you need.

Laura Drake is an author.  She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts.  She is sharp.  She is confident.  She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists.

Isn't one yet!

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Summary:

Question this Week
Happy Mother's Day! Who is your favorite mom from fiction?

This is a hard question. I find I don't focus to much on Mom's in books. Is that bad?? I would have to say my favorite would have to be Lily from Harry Potter. You really don't get to know much about her but, she gave her life for her son which I think any mother would do. Otherwise it would be Jocelyn from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. She does a good job of trying to protect her daughter.

Since all the talk about GFC going away feel free to follow via GFC but also via Bloglovin or Linky that way I don't lose you!! Thanks!

All My Life by Rucy Ban

Goodreads Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Kari meets Neil Mars. “Neil as in Armstrong and Mars…as in Bruno.” A boy who beats every vampire, werewolf, highlander fantasy Kari has ever had. But she knows she can’t get close to him. Not ever. Because that would mean telling him everything. Coming clean. And Kari can’t bear the idea of changing the way Neil looks at her. Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.

But Kari doesn't know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a fuckload of heartache.

My Review:
I was sent a copy from the author for an honest review. I have to say that I was really surprised by this book. I have read a few books where a girl was scorned by a guy. This one however got my attention with the prologue. It is quite different from all of them that I have read! I liked Kari's character. She is a snarky girl who works in a tattoo parlor. Even though her Mother does not approve. But, she loves it. If I have learned anything in this world its that if you find a job you love then by God keep doing it! Anyway, it is because of this job that she has some extra cash considering some of it is going to the A-hole Eddie. She also meets Neil here. I really like Neil. He is super yummy! He always is telling Kari that she saved him but, I think he is the one who did the saving. I liked how the story progressed, I had a hard time putting it down. When Kari's secret comes out will it ruin things with Neil? Will she ever be able to have a healthy sexual relationship after her past? Is her life on the road to being destroyed?

I would have to say that Agnas and Nalini are amazing. Agnas would be awesome to have as a mother. She is such a caring person. Nalini is a great friend. Blunt but, we all need that every once and a while. I found her extremely funny and I loved her relationship with her boyfriend. He was also great.

I really enjoyed Neil. The amazing man that rescues Kari on a white horse. He has a few secrets of his own that come out with time. I love that he lets Kari give him a tattoo. It's a very intimate thing. At least it felt like that to me. He also rides a motorcycle which is super sexy. Their romantic scenes are very hot. Like super spicy and I loved them. I didn't really know what to expect given the cover of the book. But, I loved it!

I really enjoyed this book and am glad I go the chance to review it. I would recommend it!! I have no idea if there will be another book in the series but, I was happy with the ending!
