My Clarity by Mary Ting

Goodreads Summary:
** This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+
due to sexual content and mature subject matter.**
Still reeling from the death of her father, Alexandria hopes to find both independence and reprieve from her grief by heading off to college. However, life throws her a serious curveball when she discovers that her roommate isn’t quite the person she had imagined.

Smoking, tattoos, and street racing for fast cash are Elijah’s only interests. A harsh life has made him apathetic and indifferent, until Alexandria enters his life. When their paths cross, turmoil abounds.

An inevitable encounter, an undeniable attraction, and an unexpected chance at love—will it be enough?

My Review:
My Clarity by M. Clarke

“Through the darkness of our pasts, we are all looking for a little clarity. For Alexandria, Elijah could be just that. My Clarity is a story of love and hope, that through the hardest times we find clarity in each other.”

Alexandria (Alex) is looking forward to college life. She is looking forward starting over in a new place. After her dad died life hasn’t been easy. She misses him a lot. Thanks to her cousin, Jimmy, moving she has inherited his room for college with his roommate Ellie. Alex is excited to move in and get to know her new roommate. She quickly becomes friends with Ellie and their group of friends. She is finally starting to feel grounded again. That is until she meets Elijah. He throws her for a loop. He makes her question her relationship with her boyfriend, Liam. Alex starts to question what love really is. Will Alex find what she is looking for?

I loved the characters in this book. Lexy quickly becomes friends with Alex. She is great. She helps Alex get a job and takes her to fun places/parties. She does a great job of helping Alex heal after her Dad’s death. Seth is also great. He is hilarious! Emma is Alex’s friend from back home. They talk about everything and are always there for each other. Emma tried so hard to help Alex feel better after her Dad died. She is truly a good friend. Together they all are an amazing group of friends. Liam is the only one I don’t like. He is Alex’s boyfriend. To me it seemed like he never took their relationship seriously. It was just something comfortable that they were expected to do. It’s hard when he is her first love. That one always hurts.

Elijah is a hot bad boy. Complete with the motorcycle and leather jacket. Oh, and let’s not forget his tattoos!! He is not the kind of guy Alex ever imagined herself with. He is everything Liam isn’t. There is another side to him too though. He has had a rough life, with his own tragedies. Ones that shaped him into the slightly broken person that he is. Even with all that has happened to him. Elijah has found his bright star. The only problem is that she has a boyfriend and he doesn’t think he is her type. That she deserves better. These two really need wake up calls. Because what they are both looking for is right in front of them!!

My Clarity is a great story, one of love and hope. I felt like all of the characters could have been my friends. I am pretty sure we have all lived a page out of that book. Losing your Father and going to college soon after, is a huge life change. Alex is a strong girl who is willing to fight for what she wants, to live her life to the fullest because life is too short. Nobody knows that better then these two. I highly recommend this one people.
