World After by Susan Ee

Goodreads Summary:
In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

My Review:
World After picks up with Penryn trying to get back on her feet. After what went down and her sister's situation she has a lot going on. Not only that but, she was stung by the weird angel science project pets. To make matters worse Raffe is gone. My feelings toward Paige are changing. I feel so bad for her. What the angels did to her is beyond cruel. After Penryn starts to get better she then goes on a mission. She wants to know what happened to Raffe and really wants to destroy the angels. She is about to go on a journey that will be life threatening. Will Penryn be able to save her loved ones?

I was so sad that Raffe was basically gone for the first half of the book! I really liked him.  The flashbacks that Penryn had with the sword were awesome. I loved that whole aspect throughout the books. That she was basically training with the sword during these flashes. I just thought it was a great concept. We do finally get to see Raffe again but, he has changed. With the bat wings he is considered a demon even though he has not fallen. In my opinion I think these two should just get together already! His reputation is kind of tarnished now anyway soooo why not! There must be something special though about Penryn. For her to be able to bond with the sword. So may questions!

I need book 3 to come out asap because, I need the answers to some questions. I am scared that her and Raffe will not get a happy ending. As things have already went in an interesting direction. I will continue to hope that Paige will have a good life but, like I said things look kind of grim for them!

Title: The Cage
Author: Megan Shepherd
Series Number: 1
Release Date: May 26, 2015

Goodreads Summary:
When Cora Mason wakes in a desert, she doesn't know where she is or who put her there. As she explores, she finds an impossible mix of environments—tundra next to desert, farm next to jungle, and a strangely empty town cobbled together from different cultures—all watched over by eerie black windows. And she isn't alone.

Four other teenagers have also been taken: a beautiful model, a tattooed smuggler, a secretive genius, and an army brat who seems to know too much about Cora's past. None of them have a clue as to what happened, and all of them have secrets. As the unlikely group struggles for leadership, they slowly start to trust each other. But when their mysterious jailer—a handsome young guard called Cassian—appears, they realize that their captivity is more terrifying than they could ever imagine: Their captors aren't from Earth. And they have taken the five teenagers for an otherworldly zoo—where the exhibits are humans.

As a forbidden attraction develops between Cora and Cassian, she realizes that her best chance of escape might be in the arms of her own jailer—though that would mean leaving the others behind. Can Cora manage to save herself and her companions? And if so . . . what world lies beyond the walls of their cage?

My Thoughts:
I really like the cover of this book. It is what first drew me in. I have also seen it on other blogs for highly anticipated releases of 2015. It's got a very interesting summary too.

ARC Review of Life Before Damaged Vol. 3 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Doesn't have one yet!

My Review:
One thing I learned for sure from this novella is that I need to learn to dance and my husband should come with me. Gina and Pete share a sexually charged moment on the dance floor together. I mean it ends kinda badly but, for a few minutes it is just them. In their own world with no worries at all. I really and starting to like Gina. We are witnessing her changing. For the better in my opinion. She is developing self worth and that is awesome! She is realizing that she deserves to be happy and recognized for her work. I think Pete is helping her realize some of that too. Will she ever come out of her shell and be herself?

Not a lot of romantic time between Gina and Pete in this one. They have more conversation between each other then anything. Minus their steamy dance. I am really disappointed in Gina's Dad and boyfriend. They treat her like an object and not a person. Just some pretty arm candy to show off. I have a feeling she is going to blow up pretty soon.

This series is moving a little slower but, I feel like it needs to to fully understand Gina's story. It is important in learning why Peter is the way he is. This one is going to have some serious explosions pretty soon and I can't wait!

ARC Review of When by Victoria Laurie

Goodreads Summary:
Maddie Fynn is a shy high school junior, cursed with an eerie intuitive ability: she sees a series of unique digits hovering above the foreheads of each person she encounters. Her earliest memories are marked by these numbers, but it takes her father’s premature death for Maddie and her family to realize that these mysterious digits are actually death dates, and just like birthdays, everyone has one.

Forced by her alcoholic mother to use her ability to make extra money, Maddie identifies the quickly approaching death date of one client's young son, but because her ability only allows her to see the when and not the how, she’s unable to offer any more insight. When the boy goes missing on that exact date, law enforcement turns to Maddie.

Soon, Maddie is entangled in a homicide investigation, and more young people disappear and are later found murdered. A suspect for the investigation, a target for the murderer, and attracting the attentions of a mysterious young admirer who may be connected to it all, Maddie's whole existence is about to be turned upside down. Can she right things before it's too late?

My Review:
This book was such a great read. Maddie has had a gift, or a curse, since she can remember. When she gets close enough to people she can see the exact date someone is going to die and she is never wrong. Unfortunately, she and her mom figured out what the numbers were when her Dad died on the date Maddie had written above his head on a picture. Her life was never the same after that. Her Mom became an alcoholic and she started doing readings for people for extra money. Other then that her life seems to be normal. Her and her friend, Stubs, are not popular at school but, they are ok with that. They deal with school like regular high school kids and go home each day. Maddie even has a crush on a guy. Everything changes the day a boy goes missing. The prime suspsects are the girl who tried to warm the boys mother about his death date and her friend who called the boys mom! Evidence is building, will they be able to prove their innocence or will Maddies gift get her in serious trouble.

There isn't really time for romance for Maddie but, her crush is insanely cute! She stole glances at him at games and that's about it. she was very busy trying to prove her innocence. The plot was woven so perfectly that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. There were Red Herrings along the way. The agents on the case were pretty convinced. Even after Maddie proved that she had a gift they were still not willing to believe her. A lot of circumstantial evidence was in play and things get seriously crazy for Maddie. She had a lot going on in her life and had to grow up way to fast. Will they find the murderer in time or will he find them?

So much happened during this book. It was very well written. It was also different from a lot of stuff I have read recently. The ending was PERFECT! I literally finished it and was like that was awesome!! This is a must read guys!

BLOG TOUR!! With a Twist by Sawyer Bennett

Last Call Series, #4
Adult Contemporary Romance
Release: January 6, 2015

Wyatt Banks is ready to give one woman the world. Unfortunately, his job as a cop tends to interfere with other goals. When Wyatt is sent deep undercover to investigate a sex slave ring, he doesn’t have time to do anything but focus on staying alive in a dark and dangerous underworld.
Wyatt isn’t alone though in his quest to save the women that are being sold into sexual slavery.
His partner, FBI Agent Andrea Somerville, is immersed just as deeply as he is, and she’s the bait to lure the sex slavers out into the open, as she poses as an erotic dancer in an attempt to snare the enemy. But danger runs as high as the sparks between them, and now Wyatt is caught between the job he loves and the woman he wants.

WITH A TWIST can be read as a stand-alone novel.
My Review:
This one was a little different then the other books in the Last Call series. It was definitely more dangerous. Which, lets be honest, is always a good idea when it comes to hot cops. Wyatt finally gets an opportunity to further his career by going undercover. He has the chance to help put a stop to a sex slave ring. He's going to have to do some things he's not going to like but, its for the greater good right. There are innocent women's lives on the line. It is up to Wyatt to gather information to put these nasty guys behind bars. What Wyatt didn't expect was a partner. A partner he was going to have to watch strip at the strip club and protect. How do you keep someone safe who is just as deep in as you are? Especially when it's someone you feel fiercely protective for and may be developing an attraction?

In addition to Wyatt we also get Andrea;s point of view. She has had a great carter but, also used to strip in the past to take care of school bills. Which paid off for this undercover operation. Her skills got her in with they guys selling the women to the sex slave ring. I imagine that this was scary for her. Being that close to such scum. Those men who treated women so bad! Andrea was in more danger then Wyatt in my opinion. The things they could have made her do...just awful. They got though it but, not without some bumps and gunshots along the way.

These two have some serious sexual chemistry. In such a high stress situation I feel like it just heightened everything. There is always a sense of urgency. It was seriously life and death all the time. That just makes for more passion and boy was there that! Hot, steamy panting passion! Relationships that begin under stressful circumstances tend to have issues. Especially when Wyatt is in love with where he lives and Andrea lives far away. Long distance is kind of a hot topic with her. Will they be able to figure it out or is it destined to be a fling?

This was another great addition to the Last Call series. Throughout the whole series each story is different and unique. I am so excited for Casey's story next!

With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family's twisted secrets. Goodreads Summary:
“The Gateway is open...”
These cryptic words wake college student Jess Ballard from a terrifying dream into an even more terrifying reality.
Jess' life has never been what anyone would call easy; doing damage control in the wake of your nomadic, alcoholic mother doesn't exactly make for a storybook childhood. But now her world has fallen apart just when it should be coming together: her mother gone—dead under mysterious circumstances; her life uprooted to stay with estranged relatives she’s never met; and there’s something odd about some of the people she’s been meeting at school:
They’re dead.
Aided by Tia, her neurotic roommate, and Dr. David Pierce, a ghost-hunting professor, Jess must unravel the mystery behind her hauntings. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more danger shadows her every move. An ancient secret, long-buried, is about to claw its way to the surface, and nothing can prepare Jess for one terrifying truth …
… her encounters with the world of the dead are only just beginning.
Spirit Legacy is the first of three thrilling novels in The Gateway Trilogy by E.E. Holmes.

Goodreads Summary:
Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen. Complete strangers since this morning.
He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

ARC Review of Something Amazing by M. Clarke

Goodreads Summary:
Some nights have passion, some waves leave you wet, but everything is sexy at Knight Fashion Magazine...

From the International Bestselling, Reader's Favorite Award winning author of My Clarity; M. Clarke has readers plunge into the depths of romance and desire with Rachel and Jackson’s story.

No one said breaking up was easy, but escaping to Kauai only adds to Rachel Miller's confusion when fate collides her with Jackson Clark. He’s everything Rachel wants—confident, charismatic, and in charge—but his past catches up to them, creating rough waves that seems impossible to calm. Will their love for each other be strong enough or will it crash against the shore?

My Review:
I love that this is a spin off of the Something Great series. We still get glimpses of some of the characters from that series during Something Amazing. It was going to be pretty hard to top the Knight boys but, Jax is so mouth watering! Rachel has been through a break up and the only way to get over it is to go on a tropical vacation with your BFF!! Nothing like hot guys on a beach to get your mind off of an ex-boyfriend. Her and Stacey waste no time finding the hot guys. Even though Rachel is heart broken she finds herself really enjoying her vacation and the attention from one man in particular. She does a great job of playing hard to get throughout Jax's advances. Will he prove to be to hard to resist? Is Rachel ready to jump into another relationship?

One thing Rachel knows for sure is that long distance relationships don't work. Her previous boyfriend and her had a long distance relationship and it ended badly. Putting her heart on the line is very difficult for her. She desperately wants to protect her heart. Which is why she doesn't just give into Jax on day one. Which she gets bonus points for because he tries pretty hard. Some of the things he whispers to her would leave any woman breathless. Eventually her lust starts to turn into feelings for Jax. Is she willing to put her heart on the line? Will she be able to do long distance again?

Jax has some serious layers. He is not just a playboy who gets who he wants. I loved his story. So much was going on in his life! Rachel picked up pretty quickly that he had some kind of secret but, was in no way prepared for what it was. They did have some seriously steamy scenes...like really steamy! I mean these two were in lust right away. Who could blame them?! Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their path or is real life going to tear them apart?

This is a story about real love. Love that isn't easy or without trying. Real life issues happen in their relationship and it was so cute to see it unfold. Well...read it. It was like I was watching a movie of their lives. This is a great start to another Amazing series!

Wicked by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

My Review:
YES! Armentrout wrote a book about the Fae!! Ivy is your average Fae killing college girl. She hasn't had a normal life. Her family was killed by the creatures she is sworn to kill. Fae are not easy opponents either. Her life is on the line every time she is hunting. Especially now when Ivy is faced with an adversary so dangerous, she doesn't stand a chance. Their is a group of the Order in New Orleans who she has friends in. Even though you aren't suppose to get that close due to the fact that people die young. So sad! Then she meets the super sexy and suave Ren. He is the definition of distraction. Which in that kind of life is not a good thing. Especially after losing the love of her life once already. Can Ivy's heart stand another go around? Can the evil that has now been unleashed be stopped or are they all destined to die?

I would have to say that my favorite character was Tink. Seriously, where can I get one of him! He was funny and awesome and therefore wins favorite character. Especially, when he tries to protect Ivy when Ren breaks in. LOVE HIM!

Ivy hasn't had it easy in her love life. After the heart break she has suffered she is not sure she will recover from it. I don't blame her. You first love always leaves a mark. She just has a bigger scar then most of us. Ren does respect that too. To an extent. It is incredibly hard for Ivy too. She is insanely attracted to Ren. I don't blame her he is like oozing sex and I'm not sure how she can keep her hands off him! They do have some pretty hot moments...well...insanely hot. I loved reading about their relationship!

I really enjoyed this book. Armentrout has such a wide variety of books out there. This was just another great start to yet another series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. If your a fan of the Fae then this one is for you!
